The Buffalo Bills have faced a setback following their first season loss, suffering a 35-10 defeat against the Baltimore Ravens. This loss brings their record to 3-1, but they remain in first place in the AFC East and are still on track for a playoff berth.
Compounding their challenges, the Bills will be without one of their key players for the next month.
Von Miller Receives Four-Game Suspension
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, edge rusher Von Miller has been handed a four-game suspension. Unless Miller files an appeal, this suspension will take effect immediately, sidelining him for Weeks 5 through 8.
The suspension stems from a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Miller faced accusations last November related to an incident involving his then-pregnant girlfriend. Following issuing an arrest warrant, he voluntarily surrendered to authorities and was later released on bond.
Despite not starting since his ACL injury in 2022, Miller has continued to play a significant role, participating in about 35% of the defensive snaps this season.
Miller’s Contributions to the Team
In terms of performance, Miller has recorded five tackles, including three tackles for loss, three sacks and four quarterback hits this season.
The Bills will now have to navigate upcoming matchups against the Texans, Jets, Titans, and Seahawks without their two-time Super Bowl champion.
Potential Impact on Playoff Run
While the loss of Miller is significant, there’s a possibility that this absence could help him remain healthier for a playoff push later in the season. The team will need to adjust their defensive strategy in his absence, relying on other players to step up.
This suspension adds an unexpected challenge for the Bills, who are aiming to bounce back after their recent loss and maintain their playoff aspirations.
