The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly signing guard Lester Quinones to a two-way contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. This move comes as the team reorganizes its two-way contract slots ahead of media day and training camp.

Quinones, who spent the last two seasons with the Golden State Warriors, averaged 4.2 points in 10.1 minutes over 41 games. He will now compete for a roster spot with the 76ers.

Prior to this signing, Quinones went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft and subsequently signed a two-way contract with the Warriors. He split his time between the NBA and the G League, playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors.

In his first G League season, Quinones had an impressive showing, averaging 17.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. His standout performance included a remarkable 42-point game against the Salt Lake City Stars.

After his initial success, Quinones signed a second two-way contract with the Warriors, eventually earning a standard contract midway through the season. However, he has been a free agent since the Warriors opted not to re-sign him.

Two key aspects make Quinones an interesting addition: his shooting skills and his physical attributes. He shot 43.6 percent from three-point range on 5.6 attempts per game in his first G League season.

In his second season, however, his shooting efficiency dropped to 31.4 percent on a higher volume of 9.3 attempts per game. While Sixers fans appreciate a player willing to shoot, Quinones will need to regain his earlier efficiency.

Standing at 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, Quinones fits the Sixers’ emphasis on adding lengthy players this offseason. His size and frame are advantageous for a combo guard.

As the Sixers finalize this signing, they will need to make a corresponding roster move. Currently, their two-way contracts include Jeff Dowtin Jr., Justin Edwards, and David Jones.

It seems likely that the team will waive either Edwards or Jones to accommodate Quinones, as Dowtin is expected to remain with the team.

Details regarding how the Sixers will adjust their two-way contracts will become clearer soon as they finalize their roster.
