Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones isn’t letting age—or questions about it—slow him down. During a recent press conference, the 30-year-old vet delivered a hilarious one-liner when asked about how he continues to perform at a high level as he approaches his 31st birthday midseason.

Age is just a number. I’ve been saying that ever since I was a little kid, trying to get older women,” Jones said with a grin, drawing laughs from reporters and fans alike.

The former Green Bay Packers star, now entering his second year with the Vikings, has always let his game speak for itself—and his sense of humor is clearly still in top form. Despite now being one of the older running backs in the league, Jones continues to produce like a much younger player.

Since being selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of UTEP, Jones has racked up 7,078 rushing yards, 2,484 receiving yards, and a whopping 70 total touchdowns across eight NFL seasons. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and has been a consistent threat both on the ground and through the air.

Last season with the Vikings, Jones played in all 17 games, carrying the ball 255 times for 1,138 yards and seven touchdowns. His durability and vision continue to shine, even as younger backs enter the league every year.

But the 2025 season may present a new challenge. With J.J. McCarthy—the talented second-year QB who missed his entire rookie year due to injury—stepping in as the starter, the offense could go through growing pains. That puts more pressure on Jones to be both a steady presence and a leader for a young quarterback trying to find his footing.

Jones, however, doesn’t seem fazed. If anything, he’s embracing the mentor role with the same energy he brought to Lambeau for eight years—plus a little veteran swagger.

Whether it’s picking up blitzes, grinding out first downs, or dropping punchlines, Aaron Jones proves age isn’t slowing him down—it’s only sharpening his style.
