Tennis legend Serena Williams recently faced a health scare when she had a lump, described as being the “size of a small grapefruit,” surgically removed from her neck. Williams shared her experience via TikTok, providing updates on her condition and the procedure.
In her video, she explained that she first noticed the lump back in May. After consulting a doctor and undergoing an MRI, she learned she had a brachial cyst. The medical team indicated that removal wasn’t necessary unless it began to grow.
However, the lump continued to enlarge, prompting Williams to seek further medical advice. Following three tests and a biopsy, doctors confirmed the cyst was benign but recommended immediate removal to prevent potential complications, such as infection or leakage.
The procedure went smoothly, and Williams expressed her gratitude for the outcome, emphasizing her overall health. She also highlighted her commitment to family, noting that she still attended an event with her daughter, Olympia, despite the health concerns.
Fans of Williams are aware that she has faced serious health issues in the past. After giving birth to Olympia in 2010, she encountered life-threatening complications, including a pulmonary embolism and an abdominal hematoma.
Fortunately, the recent surgery appears to be much less severe than her past medical challenges. Still, it was understandably a stressful experience for Williams. Since retiring from tennis in 2022, she has enjoyed a fulfilling life outside of the sport, although she briefly hinted at a potential comeback last year.
Overall, Williams remains optimistic and grateful for her health, focusing on her family and life after tennis. Her positive attitude and resilience continue to inspire her fans and followers.
