Victor Robles of the Seattle Mariners, known for his daring base-running, made a bold move attempting to steal home during Tuesday night’s game against the New York Yankees. With the bases loaded and two outs in the first inning, Robles’ decision to dash for home plate was unexpected, especially with Justin Turner at bat and a 3-0 count against Yankees pitcher Luis Gil.

Despite the gamble, Robles was caught and tagged out by catcher Austin Wells, a pivotal moment that didn’t ultimately impact the game’s outcome, as the Yankees went on to win decisively, 11-2.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted, “He was taking a long time from first base, so we were aware that he might try something. But with a 3-0 count, it felt like a big break for us.”

Gil had struggled early, needing 24 pitches to secure three outs. After missing a pitch to Turner, he quickly responded to Robles’ attempt, successfully throwing to Wells, who made the tag just in time.

Seattle manager Dan Wilson considered a challenge but opted not to review the play after confirming with home plate umpire Jeremy Rehak that Turner had not called time.

This attempt marked a rare occurrence for Robles, who had been perfect in 25 previous steal attempts since joining the Mariners.
