COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s national championship-winning football team continues to receive accolades for their historic achievement. On Wednesday, the team was honored by the Ohio Senate at the Ohio Statehouse, following a whirlwind of celebrations since their title win.

This event marks yet another milestone in the team’s celebration tour, which already included a ceremony at Ohio Stadium and a visit to the White House. The recognition at the Statehouse comes just a few weeks after the team’s trip to Washington, D.C., for a meeting with President Joe Biden.

Senator Rob McColley, who helped lead the ceremony, spoke proudly about the accomplishment: “It’s my pleasure today to recognize one of the proudest accomplishments we can have in the state of Ohio — that’s an Ohio State football national championship. This is a great accomplishment for this set of young men and for his entire staff at Ohio State, one that makes us justifiably proud.”

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, who led the team to victory, expressed gratitude for the honor, stating, “It’s a true honor for us to stand here today and be acknowledged by leaders of our state. It means a great deal for us to represent the great state of Ohio.” The event included a formal presentation from the state’s leadership, including Governor Mike DeWine and Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther, who also celebrated the Buckeyes’ remarkable achievement.
