The Detroit Lions have made several roster moves to finalize their 53-man roster and practice squad for the upcoming season. On Thursday morning, General Manager Brad Holmes confirmed that defensive lineman John Cominsky has been placed on injured reserve (IR), and wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones has been added to the practice squad. Additionally, safety C.J. Moore has been released from the practice squad.

Cominsky sustained a torn MCL during training camp a month ago. Since he was on the 53-man roster for at least one day, he can return from IR later in the season if his recovery progresses well. Holmes expressed optimism about Cominsky’s return, stating that the team feels confident he might be back when needed.

The Lions’ roster moves also addressed the inclusion of Peoples-Jones on the practice squad. His omission from the initial practice squad announcement was due to NFL rules regarding the number of experienced players allowed. Releasing Moore from the practice squad created the necessary space for Peoples-Jones.

Cominsky on IR has opened up a spot on the 53-man roster. It is anticipated that defensive tackle Kyle Peko, who is currently on the practice squad, will be promoted to fill this vacancy. There is also one available spot remaining on the practice squad, which could potentially be used for a kicker. Another spot on the practice squad may become available once Peko is added to the active roster.
