Despite the Chicago Sky’s failure to reach the WNBA playoffs, Angel Reese is proud of the team’s achievements during their first season together. Following the Sky’s elimination after a loss to the Connecticut Sun, the team posted a message on social media expressing gratitude to their fans for their support throughout the season.

Reese shared the team’s message on her Instagram Stories, adding her own heartfelt note: “YEAR 1 WAS FILLED WITH NOTHING BUT AMAZING MEMORABLE MEMORIES. BYE BYE ROOKI5,” with “5” referring to her jersey number.

Reese’s rookie season was certainly memorable, marked by both challenges and triumphs. Despite facing criticism, she made a significant impact on the court, averaging 13.6 points and leading the WNBA with 13.1 rebounds per game. Her performance established her as one of the top newcomers in the league.

Unfortunately, her season was cut short due to a wrist injury that required surgery. Nevertheless, Reese was a consistent standout for the Sky, frequently achieving double-doubles. She holds the record for the longest double-double streak in WNBA history at 15 games, along with the most double-doubles by a rookie, totaling 24.

While the 2024 season didn’t conclude as Reese and the Sky had hoped, it has provided a foundation for optimism as they look toward a future filled with potential for championship contention.
